What THCA Flower Actually Is
THCA is tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, the raw acidic form of THC that a living cannabis plant actually produces. In that raw state it is not intoxicating. Add heat and it changes: light a bowl, hit a dry-herb vape, spark a joint, and THCA converts to Delta-9 THC through a reaction called decarboxylation.

Federal law defines hemp by its Delta-9 THC content on a dry-weight basis, 0.3% or less, under the 2018 Farm Bill and the USDA Domestic Hemp Production Program. Compliant THCA flower is grown, harvested, and third-party lab-tested to land inside that line. It is hemp in the jar, and once it is lit, chemically it behaves like the real thing.
That is also why potency numbers on a THCA flower label can look confusing. The big number is total THCA by weight. The small number is Delta-9 THC, and it has to stay under the legal threshold. Both are on the lab report, and you should be able to see both before you buy.
